The Crossing School
Empowering struggling students to become contributing members of their communities through academics, job training and faith-based character education.
The Crossing Educational Center is a faith-based, alternative high school with 28 campuses located across the northern half of Indiana. The Crossing’s mission statement is “Empowering struggling students to become contributing members of their community through academics, job-training, and faith based character education.” Many students at the Crossing come from broken homes, where they’re identity is shaped by everything BUT what their Creator says about them. At the Crossing, we have the opportunity to share with these kids who Jesus says that they are, as well as pointing them to the hope that’s only found in Him.
Here are several practical ways for you to get involved. The Crossing is a non-profit organization, meaning that financial support is always needed. The easiest way to contribute financially is to become a D.A.D. sponsor. For more information on how to do that, go to our website at crossingeducation.com. Scroll down the home page until you see the heading that says “Become a DAD”. It will walk you through the process step by step.
Secondly, here’s a way to contribute to the Knox campus specifically. We just became a full day program this year, meaning we have to serve our students lunch every day. As of right now, the staff has been buying a lot of food, as well as having some volunteers bring lunch in. We are really trying to get local churches involved in this process. The way we are doing that is by asking churches to commit to one day out of the week that someone from your church brings in lunch for the kids. If you are a member of a church, and you feel like your congregation has at least 4-5 members who’d be willing to commit to providing lunch just one time for 20-30 students, please call or email Jesse Johnston at 574-806-3676, or firstname.lastname@example.org
